Discussion Board Rules and Guidelines

Please read the below rules and guidelines before posting in our forums.

Things to Keep in Mind when Posting

  1. Think before you type. How will others respond to your post? Keep this in mind at all times. Do a little self-policing. Don't post flame bait. Don't respond to flame bait. Think with your head, not with your fingers ("My fingers made me cuss out that_user! I couldn't stop them! Once they started typing..."). It's that simple.

  2. Respect the privacy of others. Also, keep personal conversations and correspondences (e.g. e-mail, IMs, PMs, etc...) private unless you have permission from your correspondent.

  3. Make sure you completely read the post you're responding to; otherwise you could end up arguing something completely different, or even worse, you could make yourself just look bad.

  4. Make sure your grammar and spelling is understandable. You don't have to be perfect, but it helps when you make your posts as clear as possible.

  5. If you're debating facts, be sure to back up your claims with a web site, magazine, book, newspaper article, etc... when appropriate. If you don't, you may come across as a troll.

  6. Avoid misunderstandings! Use smilies! :) Also, when reading posts, do not ignore the smilies!

  7. Try to keep initial posts in the right area. It saves time and clarifies what your post is about.

  8. Try not to have inflammatory or rude remarks in your signature. Everyone sees that and some do not appreciate a jab at them in every single one of your posts.

  9. Leave the policing to the board's administrators. There are plenty of us. If you see a post that violates these terms of use, you may politely ask the person to stop, but do not take the law into your own hands. Instead, report it to us.

  10. Do not feed the trolls! (What's a troll?) Flame posts may be deleted without warning.

  11. Stay on topic within a thread. If you wish to discuss a matter that is not directly related to the current thread's subject matter, create a new thread.

Our Rules

Ignoring any of the following will result in a warning from an administrator.

  1. No trolling and flaming. This board was created for intelligent debate, not for flame wars.

  2. No personal attacks! There's no need to insult anyone on these boards. Your post will be edited or deleted to remove any personal attacks. Attack the post, not the poster.

  3. Be polite! Everyone has bad days, but consistently being rude or uncivil will not be tolerated on this board.

  4. Do not advertise on this board. We can't stress this enough. This includes spam, multiple postings of the same thing in different forums, and pyramid schemes, among other things. Spammers will be warned and have their posts/topics deleted. Links to your personal or business sites in signatures are permitted.

  5. Do not discuss anything blatantly illegal. No serial number sharing, "warez" discussion, or illegal file sharing of any kind. Also, no links to inappropriate web sites. Offending threads and posts will be deleted.

  6. Do not start threads or make any posts with the intent of discussing an existing board member. If you have an issue with a member, please contact an administrator.

  7. Do not start any threads or make any posts criticizing the actions of administrators or owners of the website.

  8. Do not start any threads or make any posts that make insulting remarks towards administrators, site contributors, site owners, or other discussion board members.

Enforcement

Administrators will warn members who break the above rules:

  • First Warning - You are sent a warning via a PM and warned publicly in the thread that contains the post in question.

  • Second Warning - Same as first warning except you are reminded that one more warning will result in a temporary ban.

  • Third Warning - You are temporary banned for a period of 3 days and unable to participate in any further discussions on the board.

When your temporary ban is over, you will be placed on permanent probation. You will become a member of our "Probation" group. Any future warnings while on probation will result in being temporarily banned again for 3 days. This is not up for discussion. Any further trouble will result in a permanent ban. We are serious about removing trouble makers and making our boards a pleasant experience for our members.

Very Important!

If you have received a warning from an administrator, do not ignore it. We take this as a serious insult and lack of respect on your part. If you think you are being judged unfairly by particular administrator, contact one of the others and state your case.

Thank you,
